id like to thank you for the newest update, i've been waiting since i first found riivolution, its so tiring inserting a disc just to play different levels for nsmbw.

i just updated to the latest fw of wode, im running hbc 1.0.8 on ios 58 v 24.31 with riivolution 1.04

i read that u need the bca file to run it, i have that. is there anything else that would be causing this error?

been a while since you've seen me huh? well i've been seeing you behind ur back.
edit more info: thought it might help. i only get the error when i have the iso running on the wode, it goes away when i eject the image but the blue light stays lit like its reading the game. not sure but thought i should mention it.

Did you set Stealth Mode to ON in WODE Settings?

Once Stealth is ON apparently (I say apparently as I do not have Riivolution to test nor want it) you can use Riivolution but you lose all other WODE communication like WodeFlow, GC Menu etc.

All games must have BCA files: Post from Guru and more on Stealth Mode: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1860&start=20

Best to describe every step you take so we can be troubleshoot better.... The more detail the better

ok my steps.
1 update from fw2.2a to 2.8a
2 set stealth to ON and auto load to off, had it on last to use wodeflow.
3 load image of nsmbw which has the .bca file from my original disc
4 load hbc
5 load riivloution
6 error
7 sat there and cried in my soul for a minute.
8 ejected image and re-injected image ( thats when i noticed the blue light stayed on)
9 error again
10 more crying.
im in the process of testing but im away from home at a friends house (spraying for bugs), i dont have my discs and i wont for a few days, so i cant test if it works with just the disc right now.
if i load riivolution without an image it says insert disc, as soon as i press the joystick to load the image it says error, doesn't even say loading or anything just disc read error.
the only game i use riivolution for is nsmbw, so its not that big of a deal but its new and i wanna try it out. (kid with new toy syndrome?)
any better?



edit wait: EVERY image must have a .bca? EVERY one? or just the one thats being run?

make sure you have the BCA file (name_iso.bca) and try to load the iso when riivolution is already running.

Can the game be in WBFS format or must the game file also be an ISO file?

TG - can you give an example of how a game and iso/wbfs must be setup on the HDD?

Also - I thought Rexlaw already tried starting when Riivolutions was already running...

Step 8 shows only Riivolution running and then selecting the image file and then error. Also previously stated that BCA was included....

Could there be something else missing or being done wrong here...?

Does the meta.xml require <no_ios_reload/> for HBC 1.0.7 and above?

EDIT: I just tested and this is the results:


Test 1
1. Start HBC
2. Start Riivolution
3. Select Flat Mode
4. Place Disc in
5. Insert Disc remains in Riivoution and nothing happens


Test 2
1. Start HBC
2. Start Riivolution
3. Place Disc in
4. Select Flat Mode
5. Insert Disc remains in Riivoution and nothing happens

1. Place Original Disc in Wii
2. Select Flat Mode
- Appears in Disc Channel
3. Start HBC
4. Start Riivolution
5. Game gets detected and I can launch it successfully

Test 4
1. Select New Super Mario Bros.wbfs
- It has New Super Mario Bros.bca
- Appears in Disc Channel
2. Start HBC
3. Start Riivolution
4. Disc read Error at top of screen

Test 5
1. Start HBC
2. Start Riivolution
3. Select New Super Mario Bros.wbfs
- It has New Super Mario Bros.bca
4. Disc Read Error

Test 6
1. Start HBC
2. Start Riivolution
3. Select New Super Mario Bros.iso
- It has New Super Mario Bros.bca
4. Disc Read Error

Test 7
1. Select New Super Mario Bros.iso
- It has New Super Mario Bros.bca
- Appears in Disc Channel
2. Start HBC
3. Start Riivolution
4. Disc read Error at top of screen

1. Select PRE PATCHED BCA New Super Mario Bros.iso

The only way I have managed to get it to work is via the Original Disc in Flat mode BEFORE you start Riivolution.....

Before to start my tests, I successfully rip two discs as WBFS file on the SD card, Wii Sports and NSMB;

the Wode setting "Stealth Mode" is set to [ON]

the HBC channel info versions claim as : 1.0.7 IOS61 v21 29

the meta.xml not require <no_ios_reload/> tag


Test 1
1. Select the iso_name.wbfs
- It has iso_name.bca
- Appears in Disc Channel
2. Start HBC
3. Start Riivolution
4. After 5-7sec. the iso name came on the upper-left corner of Riivolution screen
5. The blu led seems stay always lighted because riivolution continuosly check the disk status

Test 2
1. Start HBC
2. Select the iso_name.wbfs
- It has iso_name.bca
- the wode LCD stay on 0 Reads and 0 KB
3. Start Riivolution
4. After 5-7sec. the iso name came on the upper-left corner of Riivolution screen
5. The blu led seems stay always lighted because riivolution continuosly check the disk status

Test 3
1. Start HBC
2. Start Riivolution
3. Select the iso_name.wbfs
- It has iso_name.bca
4. After 5-7sec. the iso name came on the upper-left corner of Riivolution screen

Maybe it is to do with the BCA file. I know the one WODE creates is different to the one that we manually create.

I remember TA stating saying something about 2 places for the BCA to come from or maybe two ways it cane be gotten.

I will do a test rip now to SD and see what happens....

It is the BCA file.

I just did a rip with WODE and used the BCA file created by WODE and then Riivolution detected the game fine.

I only ran the two tests:

1. Game selected BEFORE starting the HBC and Riivolution
2. Game selected AFTER starting HBC and Riivolution

Both times loaded successfully and it did not matter whether it was HDD or ISO. Same WBFS file as before simply a difference BCA file.

So - it would seem the manually created BCA file for NSMB that we have a guide for will not work with Riivolution but works perfectly fine for WODE and for the AP not to kick in.

Are you able to better explain TG the difference between the BCA file created by WODE and the BCA file we create manually (both work fine but only one works with Riivolution) OR the one we patch into the ISO with the perfectly valid patch files many have used?

could you get me the reference to the how-to used to create manually the BCA file, so i can compare and explain the differences.
